Unhappy Issue: Cannot use Grab Brush at certain areas on mesh

I am fairly new to Mudbox and I seem to have run into a problem.

I am trying to sculpt a humanoid creature and currently messing with the hands. The problem is that it seems that I can only get the Grab brush to work when camera view is very far away from the mesh when sculpting in this particular area. I can use the Grab brush on other parts such as the face without any issues.

Things I've checked and tried:
- The scale of the model is the same as the full human figure that comes with Mudbox.
- I have adjusted the near farplane to some various degrees without any luck.
- It seems all the other brushes work fine. So there's the possibility that I got a crazy setting turned on in the Grab Brush settings? Something I need to look out for?

The version I am using currently is 2012 64-bit.
