Initial color pass or textured and lit model: asteroid stage 6 - blue trail

i extended the asteroid's 'tail' ... a slightly thick blue wavy tail ...

using smudge brush to give it more irregularity ...

still ... more ... :( this is not enough :(

Initial color pass or textured and lit model: asteroid - final draw!

drawing the line now for the asteriod!!

well i added a few more layers to define the body of the trail ..

i used overlay layer blending mode.. for the mid blaze ...

actually the way im working right now .. its in high resolution 300 dpi ... so if you zoom into the image ... there are very minute dust particles like everywhere ... even small glowing pieces... sometimes i had to paint each and every particle the way i want it to be .. then to speed things up i created a brush with a lot of spacing, dynamics and scattering and painted trails where ever i wanted ... then finally switching the layer blending mode to color dodge ..

ummm .. i think i'll post a screenshot ... lets see ...

Good job with the asteroid close up

What else are you going to add to your scene?
Yeah i havent read the book yet either.. So we have to rely on the inspiration parts. Or just read the book someday.

hey thanx! Falcor_ :P ><

well, dont know for sure ... still in the thinking stage :( ... sometimes i draw a bit and delete ... draw and delete ... goes on n on ... at least wen i come up with something concrete, i can work on the screenshot updates along with the final image .. and the explaination on how it was done .. :P

yea dude! ur absolutely right! the inspirational part is the key :P ... thats the only thing we can rely on ... :| as for me, im totally clueless wen it comes to the book :(

lets hope for the best dude!

dude this is pretty cool,
that thing looks scary but also atractive, you know what I mean?
I saw once a small thing falling of the sky at night and that was scary, I can not imagine what that would feel like,
good luck
