Renderer with best layered shader and material library

One thing I loved about the Maya renderer was the ability to use it's "Layered Shaders" Such an awesome workflow..!

Now that the Maya renderer just doesn't cut it.

Is there a renderer that has an equivalent to that? That works as well? Mix 8 in Mental Ray i've tried and it's not as easy to use. But maybe it's the best i'm going to get? Any ideas?

Also, which renderer has a great material library? Id love to be able to just drag materials onto my objects...

Hey Sinistar,

You can still use the Layered Shader workflow in Maya with Mental Ray by using a Layered Texture, Surface Shader, and a Mia_X. Check out the video below. Hope this helps!

Thanks so much! Very straight forward!

Does anyone know if there is a way to get a surface shader to come up somewhat shaded in the viewport..?
