maxwell render - reference material


Short story
Having a base material (let's say aluminium), how can I keep the original material settings and add, for each mesh, on top of the base aluminium material, a displacement map for each piece.

long story
I have more aluminium pieces, some require a displacement map for different engravings, some do not. The way I can do this is create an aluminium material and create one aluminium material for each mesh so that each material will have its own displacement map.
The problem is that if I want to tweak the aluminium material, I'll have to do the changes on each copies of the material.
