Effects on the edges

Hello world!
I`m wondering how to achieve in Maya this type of effect on the edges of the character.

I`m trying to do this by simply put Ramp Texture with Sampler Info into transparency of the shader, but my goal is to have this effect only in outlines of the model. Do you have maybe any solutions for that? I`ll be very gratefull for help.

Hey Peter,

If your using Mental Ray as your renderer, and also using the Mia_X as your shader you could try mapping a texture into the 'Cutout Opacity' channel under the advanced tab of the Mia_X shader. Hope this helps.
