using ramps for layered shader/texture

I was wondering about techniques to layer shaders, I know there is the layered shader, but it doesn't work too well with mia materials. I believe the other two approaches are to use ramps and the color mix node,

So my main question would be how to get a layered shader/texture with ramps. I saw some tutorials on it but got confused,

Hey Kysg,

Actually you can achieve a layered shader look using the Mia_Material by using a surface shader and a layered texture node. Check out the tutorial below, hope this helps.
