shadow artifacts

Greetings everyone

Not entirely sure if this is the correct place to post. Apologies if i'm mistaken.

I'm doing a scene in 3ds max using daylight, mr sun and sky, and I've been getting shadow artifacts, which I can't seem to resolve. You can see them in the attached image. They get better if I increase the softness samples. However, I'm already at 50 and going any higher would make my render times really long. Any ideas?

Thanks for that. Much appreciated Anw jus to emphasize, the artefacts I'm referring to are those in the bottom right of the image.

-define your shadow types like hard shadows or raytrace
-Just refine the photons emitter count and raise the final gathering accuracy percentage , don't use defaults in first place edit anything to what you think is right like:
light temperature, indirect light system or not , ambient occlusion and many attributes.

that's all i know try this maybe you find your way in another thing

Those artifacts are perhaps related to FinalGather, since that area isn't in shadow at all? Or as the previous poster mentioned, perhaps you're using Depth Map shadows instead of Raytraced Shadows? Is your primary renderer set to Raytracing, or Scanline?
