Using HDR with Cinema 4D and Vray

Hi,

What is the difference between using an HDR in the Environment slot in VrayForC4d vs adding an Area Dome Light and add the HDR as a texture there? I've heard that using Dome lights should be better, but I wonder why and what the differencies are?

Thanks,
Frederik

if you put it in a dome you can spin and turn it a bit easier, no idea if there's any other reason to use the HDRi this way

Hi! Yes that is true, but it's still not possible to view the HDR in the viewport (in Cinema 4D using VrayForC4D) using HDR dome, is it?

Not as far as i know. :/ Only workaround i know would be to place your hdri in your scene as a sky object and then copy your rotation to your enviroment port or your light dome.
