HMC #38 - Ymir- Speed87

I'll start with Ymir.

Love the Ymir. With the amount of abuse he gets in 20 million Miles, its a wonder the RSPCA didn't step in! Christ, we're still waiting for PETA to claim the film is offensive to aliens from Venus!

I was hoping someone would pick him as I went with the Rhedosaurus instead...cos' he seems easier. Ymir seems more humanoid, making it slightly more challenging. He certainly had a lot of emotion and charm compared to Ray's previous films, although Mighty Joe was very close.

One thing to point out, is to notice his similarities to the Cyclops(body) and the Kracken(head). I think he gets his tail from the Rhedosaurus, but some how I don't think that's useful...

Anyway, god speed and another entry I shall be watching closely.

Updated block out for Ymir. Have not really touched the hands or feet yet.

Thx Boone. I worked a bit more on the face and body. Still have to work on the hands and legs. Once I am happy with the basmesh I'll bring it into Zbrush for scultping.

Update with smooth shaded. Still more work to do on the base before Zbrush. I have a few rouge traingles.

Updated some of my topology in the shoulder and leg area. Still working on hands and feet.

I added a pedastal and a broken street light.

Just a thought, Robert; I may be wrong and one of the more skilled modellers here might be better judges, but the legs might be a bit short.

I find watching the film, making sketches and comparing them to the model that I have made to be a good practice.

But otherwise, I do see the Ymir here, so that's the important thing. Keep up the good work!

I extended the legs a bit. I plan to change a few more things to the basemesh before I go into Zbrush for scultping.

Thx again. Tonight I am going to start sculpting in Zbrush. Hopefully really shape things and make him really look like Ymir.
