HCR MINI-Challenge #37: Femme Fatale!

THE HARDCORE MODELING MINI-CHALLENGE!
Femme Fatale!

A femme fatale (pron.: /ˌfɛm fəˈtl/ or /ˌfɛm fəˈtɑːl/; French: [fam fatal]) is a mysterious and seductive woman[1] whose charms ensnare her lovers in bonds of irresistible desire, often leading them into compromising, dangerous, and deadly situations. She is an archetype of literature and art. Her ability to entrance and hypnotise her victim with a spell was in the earliest stories seen as being literally supernatural; however, the femme fatale today is still often described as having a power akin to an enchantress, seductress, vampire, witch, or demon, having some power over men.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Femme_fatale

Model an EMPOWERED female character from used in Film, Video Game, Cartoon or TV Show. Mash-up of character an actors are also welcomed (Imagine Audrey Hepburn as Cat-woman, Or Angelina Jolie as General Maximus)

The idea of this "mini-challenge" is to simulate an impossible deadline for a project. The artists will have at their discretion how detailed the models they will be working on, what program they will be using, the amount of models, and if the models will be shaded/ rigged. But the model will have to be original interpretation of a dynamic scene done from scratch.

A big part of the challenge is that the modeler will have to scavenge all the reference for the vehicles he or she wishes to model. But at the end of the challenge the final model will have to look like a scene that we might see in a Film/TV/Gaming magazine.

DEADLINE! MONDAY , April 8th 12:00 PM

YOU HAVE TWO MONTHS do the challenge.

There are Four ways to participate:

  • Single Character
You can Model whatever fem me fatale you want

  • Character Series: This type of entry requires you will try to do as many characters from an individual franchise.

    For Example:
Batman: Cat-woman, Poison Ivy, Harley Queen, Bat-girl
Sucker Punch: all the girls in the team.

  • Diorama: You may the appropriate environment for your Character

    Some examples:
    Lara Croft inside a temple
Alice from Resident Evil inside zombie Layer

  • Mashups

Mashup of character an actors are also welcomed

    Some examples:
    Audrey Hepburn as Cat-woman
    Angelina Jolie as General Maximus

THE CHALLENGE:___________________________
So lets recap....
The key is to model
one or more characters EMPOWERED women in a period of 2 months . The idea of this "mini-challenge" is to simulate an impossible dateline for a project. The artists will have at their discretion how detailed the models they will be working on, and the amount of models, and if the models will be shaded/ rigged. But the model will have to be work of the artists interpretation.
A big part of the challenge is that the modeler will have to scavenge all the reference for the film models. But at the end of the challenge the creature(s) have to look like the one shown on film.

CAN YOU DO IT?
What is the HARDCORE MODELING CHALLENGE?

The idea of these HARDCORE MINI CHALLENGES is to push the modeling skills participants while learning from the past. To get past preconceptions of the limits of digital art. To push digital artists into the world of sculptors & artisans. But we will have variety on these mini challenges. Sometimes we will sculpt a model based on a masterpiece, but on other times we might do Jet fighter or a landmark....
The only thing that will be consistent is the SHORT DATELINES.
At the end of the challenge, the participant should have a finished collection of entries. Keep in mind contest of high difficulty you will have TWO MONTHS to do the challenge, but the rewards, even if you don't win, will be your improved skills in speed and accuracy.

EVALUATION CRITERIA:______________________

Detailed RESEARCH, and attention to detail are key for ALL entries. Please before doing an entry do your homework.
The best model will be selected by an open vote
for these categories:

  • Best WIP thread
  • Best Model Collection (2 or more)
  • Best Diorama
and the big one of course:
  • Best Model
The winner will get bragging rights and a small banner
designed by me.

Would a Medusa model be too far outside the lines? Also do we have to get the likeness of a celebrity?

Ideas unused

Hey if anyone is having trouble coming up with an idea, here's my runner up idea I passed on.

Borg Queen, from Star Trek: First Contact.
Her relationship with Data is pure Femme Fatale temptress.

Anyone else who feels like doing a group of characters, any or all of the ladies from Battlestar Galactica.

x23 - sarah or laura something - female teenage clone of wolverine
