Great work so far. I think you can lift up the hood a bit or just rework you bevel on the borders because I find that borders are too edgy unlike the refs photos

I have been playing with the bonnet all the time, I will try how it looks if I make it a bit rounder, it still seems to be to flat. Thanx for the sharp eye

I also noticed there is an extra line/edge/rim around the side windows, some more work for tomorrow then

well, after a lot of tweaking, here's the final result:

hours spent: about 80 (thus meaning my boss would sell this for 7000 euro excl. taxes)
software: 3ds Max 2012 with Mental Ray
personal goal1: learn to render in MR. At work we always use Vray and...I know understand why. What a CRAPPY renderer, specially the shadows were hard to get right and still they are way to black! aaaargh...
personal goal2: model a high poly car. I have modeled cars before but they were always low poly, I did a high poly once but that was not a real car and you tend to take shortcuts then because there is no reference anyway. I learned a lot about turbosmooth and smoothing groups, I knew most of it but it was a good practise. In my daily job we don't get to do this.

I wanted to do a different scene first but that ment I would have had to model another car, a buggy and a truck...and I barely made this in time. So, here we are, at the beginning of mad max 2. In the late afternoon, close to sunset "Mad" Max Rockatansky stumbles upon a small settlement on an oil well. In the post-apocalyptic world oil and fuel are the most important goods so he needs to go there and find a way to refill his Interceptor. If you want to know how it ends....get the film
