It's actually taking shape does anyone know if it is possible to make afterburn have a more "wispy" effect to it?

you can try messing with the noise type (turbulence or smoke... etc) and also the tendril or fireball settings for it also (play with gain and bias) Density would have to be pretty low also.

I like the way the camera zooms in and merges with the 3D footage, how did you do that?

I think you need a little v.quick smoke for the gunshot and better Foley for the firing pin strike
