How can i use a vertex selection as particle emitter?
My surface is animated via progressive morph targets.
Would like to maintain selection verts as area of emission.

OK so the Position Object operator has a dropdown that is able to specify "selected vertices". I'll experiment with this. Though if anyone knows how to actually specify the verts please let me know.

Yes, object select have that option.

I am not sure will this going to help you, but "volume select" modifier is a really powerful tool for making vertex selections animated, or just on the top of the mesh, bottom.. or just using other animated geometry as a selection tool (whenever they touch the mesh, the selection will occur).

You can also add a Mesh Select modifier to your emitter geo, go to the Vertex Sub-object level, select some verts, then in the Position Object operator Location choose "Selected Vertices".

Thanks Johnny and Dark Elf
With the mesh select does it just take the top mesh select in the stack?
I actually need multiple vert selections from the one piece of geometry (a breaking wave) to create different spray and foam fx. Is there any way to specify among a number of mesh select modifiers?

You could specify with something like mat id.

Since you are doing something like a wave you could use d4rk3lf's idea and use a volume select with a noise animated box at the correct z-axis to enable an inVolume selection.

This is something Genome would excel in prepping that mesh for particle emission.
