Positioning particles at start

Hello,

Does anybody know how to position particles made from a groups objects in the exact same position they were in with the group object?

I know I can do this by setting the 'Position object' operator to pivot and then changing the pivot location of all the groups objects to be the same as the groups pivot but this means that when I want to rotate the particles they all rotate around the groups pivot and not their own local centered pivot, which is what I need them to do.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Use the birth group operator. now available in 2014. Or the creative extension in 2013.

Thanks Nick, that's saved a lot of trouble.

Sorry one more question, if you can help....Do you know how to then have these particles rotate as an object gets closer to them? I'd like them to also stop spinning when the object moves away if possible.

I thought a 'find target' would do the trick as there is a distance based condition in the params but it's not working as expected...
