# How to create this effect: Rubiks Cube explode

11 November 2012 take24studios New Member portfolio Martijn Emmen, Netherlands How to create this effect: Rubiks Cube explode Hi guys, My name is Maarten and Im a 3d artist from The Netherlands. Currently im working on a project but im stuck at some point. The idea is to have an unsolved Rubiks Cube explode in to 27 pieces. The then need to spin and come back in to a cube Solved. Im trying to do this in PFlow. I have the first setup done. 27 pieces start on a cube shape. then they explode (pbomb) and then come back to the cube (find target). Unfortunnately I can't get the pieces to be attached to the cube the same way they were on the beginning. At the beginning the particles ar evenly placed in a cube shape. But at the end they are spread randomly. I hope you guys can help me out with this. Thanks in advance, Maarten share quote

11 November 2012 take24studios New Member portfolio Martijn Emmen, Netherlands thank you I'm not realy into scripting. I found the problem but don't know how to solve it. I have "Position Object" locked on emitter. Location: Pivot. What happends is that the particles are not evenly distributed. Some particles are overlapping leaving other pivots empty. Do you know what causes this and how I can fix this? share quote
11 November 2012 take24studios New Member portfolio Martijn Emmen, Netherlands thanks im not really in to scripting. I have 27 cubes in my scene. And a Particle Emitter wich emmits 27 particles. When i add a position object to the event and lock on emitter. The particles are not evenly distributed on every Cube. Some Cubes don't have a particle on them and some Cubes have multiple particles. How can I distribute it evenly? Do I need a script for this? Hope you know how to solve this. share quote

A rubiks cube is quite easy, there's already a script for that. http://www.scriptspot.com/bobo/mxs5...unks_Basics.htm You'll need to correct the count for the cubes though. share quote

LOL, Take a walk on the wild side Seriously all of the code you would need is already out there. If you can copy/paste you are already halfway there. Not to mention it is only two lines of code added to the default script operator. I have confidence in you, you will be just fine __________________ poof ~>Vimeo<~ share quote

11 November 2012 take24studios New Member portfolio Martijn Emmen, Netherlands I'm really stuck. I looked at the script on scriptspot but thats not really what I'm after. I have attached my scene file so it might be a bit more clear. At the first 3 frames the cubes are alle spreaded evenly. But at the last frames the same thing should happen again. It might be a simple thing to fix but can't find it. Download Max File share quote

Here is something to play with, it is you system cleaned up a little and one way basic way you would set something like this up. I have to get back to work, sorry I haven't got time to post to a nice lengthy explanation but like they say a picture is worth a thousand words.
