FTL (Faster Than Light) Particle Effect.

I'm currently working on a project, the idea I need help with is an FTL (Faster Than Light) effect I'm looking to create, the idea is to have the spaceships outline burst off like a sort of second skin but as pure light particles as the ship jumps, cutting through the light, I was wondering does anyone know how I would do this using particle flow?

Hard to say without a ref.

The basic setup should be fairly easy to setup though.

Birth some particle on the surface, add a speed by surface + use normals, age test out to a new event that locks the particles off of the surface, then spawn some trails.
