Question help with project. Making a skull

Hey, I am doing a project with a human skeleton. The problem is the skull.
I dont know how to approach this. As in what is the best way to make one. I just need some tips and hints.
Does it start out with a box?
The skull is more complicated than I thought.
Thanks for any help.

thanks, that helps. But what I mainly need help with is. How should I approach it? Start with a box?
Looking at the skull, then looking at my screen like "what the hell do I do!?"

Yes, start with a cube and child that to a hypernurb. Maybe split the box in half and child the hypernurb to a symmetry and model half the skull. I toggle the hypernurbs on and off to make it easier to see the cube during modeling. Good Luck.

Maybe this could be an idea (I know it's simple and VERY cubic) but maybe it could be a startingpoint (careful, I'm no expert) - maybe it's "bahhh, never that way" - well, then it's one way less to ponder about.

But personally I would start with a box. Maybe look around for headtutorials (many details of the bonestructure are important for the head in flesh too) and look for skulls, modelled by others they might give you a far better idea as how to start.

And if mentioned trivialities: sorry for that ;-)

Sagadur is right, you can start from a box. I am finishing off a skeleton right now and I started with 2 image planes I found at the zbrush site. Just project the reference images on two planes. I made the planes half transparent and put them in front of my front and right views so I could model through them. This is great for 2 major views but it wont help you on a 45 degree view. For that you will need other pics (from the web and anatomy books) to help. Here was my basic setup.

You model it just the same as a face, you can use any modelling technique I guess. I took the model into zbrush then and sculpted it a bit.

Doing any part of a skeleton is a big challenge, but really worth it.
