Hawk/Eagle anatomy reference
I've been trying to model a realistic osprey, but I'm having trouble finding useable avian anatomy reference-- particularly of the muscular and skeletal structure, as it's difficult to tell from photographs exactly where feathers end and musculature begins.
I'd be grateful for any help offered. __________________

Try searching the SurgiCat Database, the link to which was posted to this forum just a few days ago by another member: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showpos...074&postcount=2 Hope this helps! SurgiCat is the online database of the extensive collections of an Anatomy Museum in London. It looks great! Hope you find what you need. ![]() For example, I did a really fast search for 'osprey', and came up with this, though I'm sure there's much more there: http://surgicat.rcseng.ac.uk/detail.aspx?parentpriref=# I did a broader search for 'bird' and came up with this: http://surgicat.rcseng.ac.uk/brief.aspx Cheers, ~Rebeccak __________________

Thanks, that's useful.
I could really use a diagram of a raptor's muscular structure, or even a good photo of a raptor without any feathers-- I don't suppose you know of a museum with pictures specifically about ornithology? __________________

Hmm, I did a Google search for ornithology museum (thanks for the word, I forgot that the study of birds was ornithology)
![]() Try here: The Audubon Society: http://www.audubon.org/ They have a page on Bird Resources: http://www.audubon.org/bird/bird_resources.html Also I did a search for bird anatomy museum, and came up with this: http://www.nhm.org/birds/home.html If you click on 'bones' on the left navigation panel, there's a generic diagram of a bird skeleton. I would also just do a Google search and see what you turn up. If you find any great sites, please post them here! ![]() Cheers, ![]() ~Rebeccak __________________
