You know, this is the third figure thread I'm creating, all my other ones have been blown out or locked away......let's see if I can keep this one going. Oh yeaaah. Limits on image size, number of posts in batch and need for an image host.
I would love to see CGSociety lifting the limits on uploads. would make it easier for artists to share work.

Anyway,
After going through a billion steps on image host.
Here's some of my better sketches.

The portraits are under Glen Orbik's (my most influential drawing teacher) tutelage.

HEY...Welcome back Esmeralda ..You know, I just gave the link to your old sketchbook to a woman over at ZBRUSH Central the other day..She was doing studies of anatomy, and I thought of your sketchbook, and thought it would be of use and inspiration to her...Here is the link to her thread and my reply to her over there...

Hope you don't mind me passing your thread around...It's just one of the best examples of how to study the human figure that I know of out there.

Anyway, it's great to see that you are still at it, and haven't lost that beautiful touch of yours...Always a real pleasure seeing that hand of yours at work discovering new things as it moves along so gracefully.
Glenn

These are all absolutely superb.

I'm hugely jealous of your ecomony of line and grasp of form... Please keep posting more!

Welcome back!

Happy to see your drawings here again. Can always learn a thing or two by looking closely at them

How do you control the proportions when doing these quick ones? I tend to spend a lot of time just to make sure my proportions are somewhat correct.

Hey razz!
Thank you! I'e always liked this forum and now have some new stuff to post as I explore further skills.
As far as proportions, I eyeball alot. Having said that, in short poses I rely heavily on shape and relative spatial relationships. Find things that line up. Eyeline to raised hand, etc.
I do have a sort of proportion grid, that I've memorized, that I mentally project, as a backup. This helps to ballpark my estimations. So, I use observation as well as a memorized a proportion system.

Some 5-10 minute sketches.
