VFX shot naming include multiple angles?

I'm about to work with a VFX artist for the time and am just wondering how to prepare the shots. I've been looking into naming conventions and think I have a handle on that. But when I want to name a shot, is the shot defined as just the one angle or multiple angles over a sequence/scene?

I don't know... I prefer to keep a spreadsheet and the shots are coded like "ACT01-S001"...
and if two shots are interrelated or dependent on each other I use an "A" and "B" notation.

In the spreadsheet I have a "Description" column that describes the shot... that and also the storyboards use the same notation.

So normally, in my case, you see the description of the "camera angle/camera movement" in the Description column... not in the "Name" of the shot. That.. .and I also like to draw arrows in storyboards.

With rare exceptions - every time you cut to a new clip in your editing timeline you create a new shot.

Even if the new shot comes from the same take or angle as another previous shot, it's considered a new shot.

So even if you only shot 2 takes of the scene, if you cut it up on your timeline into 20 smaller clips, that's 20 shots you've got rather than 2.

Hope that helps.
