Are film production subsidies...

I am curious what the socio-economic interpretation of film production subsidies are to folks here.

Are they like a jobs creation program/funding?

Are they like a social effort to promote art and culture?

Are they like welfare/"the dole"?

Are they like a place for a government to place money to increase profits for corporations?

Are they like an economic weapon to attack other nations?

Are they like ...?

I don't know man, I mean, you say you're curious, but you have nearly 700 posts here and you registered in 2006, I suspect you probably have been exposed to a large amount of the spectrum of opinions on this subject.

But if you really have to ask, personally, I think that all they do in the context of 3d is create a context for a race to the bottom.
