Quote: We've been slowly building the fan base since January 2012 with the production blog, so at this point, a lot of them were already very eager to finally be able to help.

So that is another question. How did you build that fanbase? Where did you post? Where did you go? Where did you find those fans? I'd love to pick your head.

Oh and congrats. wow you reached your goal and it is still climbing. That is wonderful.

In other "I Love Kaiju" news I wanted to share some artwork from my artists Gus from Thailand. They have some great work.

Wow, these artworks are looking awesome. Keep them coming!

As for your question... the three of us had won prizes for our short films at school so people already knew what we were capable of and, I think, were very curious to see what we could do if we worked together. So most of the initial fans were people we knew already, from school or elsewhere. From that point on, it was really just a matter of posting every week and trying to have interesting updates, hoping that these people would like or share with their own friends. Thomas' comics were a very good way to keep people coming. We started by just posting on facebook everytime we had an update to let people know, and at some point, I started creating threads on various forums like here and cghub, 3dvf, cfsl, to try to reach new people. It really was a long process.

@Roberto: I Chris Grun is awesome. Also, I'm happy napkin-sketching hasn't gotten out of fashion. Someone should make a book with all these scanned napkin sketches. I had the privilege of seeing some for one of those tentpole summer films and it's remarkable how much of that napkin sketch really does make it all the way to the finished creature, robot, weapon, whatever.

@banman7: You might have to do more to alter that Ultraman homage character to dodge Tsuburaya's wrath. Suggest you absorb maybe some bits from other tokusatsu to evade Ultraman similarities like from these other guys:

Oh the picture that looks like Ultraman is Ultraman. I just wanted to share some of the works of the one artist who is helping me on the project. What looks like Ultraman is Ultraman unless you are referring to Calle below.

Calle is a race called Byromens. They were bio-weapons created by their humanoid masters. Eventually the Byromens simply destroyed almost all the humanoids on the planet. Only a few humanoids went underground into hiding and put themselves in cryotubes. Over thousands of years the Bryomens, who were designed to change and evolve, began to become self aware and even grew a conscience. Many of the Byromens who became self aware began to feel guilt over the destruction they caused. They eventually found the remaining humanoids in cryosleep and decided they would reclaim the planet and make it a paradise for the humanoids. Some of the other Byromens maintained their machine-like savagery while others simply wanted to keep the world for the Byromens. While one faction is trying to create the others are trying to destroy.

Calle is a young Byromen whose daily function is to clean the outside of the Cryotubes. She has a crush on a sleeping humanoid and talks to him daily dreaming that he is her boyfriend. She dreams of the day when her true love will awaken her but that dream fades away as Milton causes events that lead to her cryo boyfriends demise.

Dude that freakin sucks man! They like totally are not getting any support. 14 days left and have 651 dollars. I made that much in Kickstarter without even trying and no promotion whatsoever. I just did it as a test. Wow I feel so bad for them guys. And yes I do think it sucks that people give millions of dollars to movie stars that have money already with connections and then all the sites promote it as if they needed it. Really, really sucks.

@dolemite07 - That looks delightfully disturbing, can't wait to see more! Also DO NOT buy Facebook ads, it will be a waste of your money (recently listened to a presentation by 10-year game marketing veterans, that was their advice). Just allow your audience to grow organically and try to find a niche audience interested in what you are creating. Look for forums of horror fans, 3D comic fans, interactive comics, whatever... just try posting around until you find one that sticks and run with it.

Okay so how much traffic do you get right now? Also for a comic I'd do a page release at a time with blogs. Search engines get attracted to pages updated more frequently with fresh new content.

Also check out fiverr.com There are a few folks there who will help you get a lot more viewers.
I went up to 5,000 viewers a month as long as I provided fresh new content.

Pick one that is scifi, horror, etc related. Horror is not my thing but I can really see the potential and the skill you put into this.

Good stuff. I would personally add a little more organic to it. Some signs of life or something because the environment is to clean and sterile and cities are so empty. I mean if you put bodies or something in the background that might add to the scene. User Poser or Daz for background people. No harm in that and speeds you up. But your close facial stuff is really good.

Thanks!

I have a $50 credit from my webhost for facebook ads. So i'm going to give it a shot since it'll be free.

I've tried a bunch of things to drive the facebook page but nothing seems to stick.
plus i dont have the time to manage all of these different social media AND create the book. I need an assistant LOL.
thanks for the advice, i'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks! The panels so far are WIP so those backgrounds will be alot more full in the final version. Im actually rendering out extra stuff for a panel now.

i will definitely check out Fiverr. Im good with Twitter but as i said above i dont have the time to properly cultivate a facebook audience.

oh and for background characters im using MakeHuman. its pretty lightweight.

That is the cool thing about Fiverr.
You pay someone 5 dollars to do it for you! I did one on fiverr and immediately started getting like 5,000 views a month and didn't have to do anything. I started getting 200 or 300 a day and paid 1 guy five bucks.

So much stuff is automated and it helps you save time. You want to get more facebook followers, Fiverr. Want someone to do backlinks for you, Fiverr. Want a 3d print? I saw that on Fiverr to. 3 inches for 5 bucks. I have found so many cool things that I will use for my story including website promotion.

Like I've said I have used them before and started to get a ton of hits that I never had.

Pick one after reading reviews.

Oh and grantmoore here is the pole dancer.

You know what, for $5 I'm going to try it out. No... not the pole dancers... I mean the advertising! Okay, maybe the pole dancer too. Have you found that the people who have started to follow as a result of these services actually engage in your content?

edit: Alright, signed up for two different advertising options. I'll be sure to watch my Google Analytics & Facebook Page stats over the next few weeks and report my findings. I'm sure a lot of the traffic is not targeted, but numbers would definitely help give a positive impression when people who are interested visit.

Done. Both the page likes and the stripper. I'll see how it does and report back.

Thanks!
