Blender to Maya animators

I decided to make a tutorial that shows how to do one thing in Maya, and another in Blender. It's animation focused and for now just basic stuff. I hope it helps some of you!

Very informative!

Surprised to see so many Maya features implemented in Blender with control schemes of similar level of human convenience.

As a life long Maya user, I keep wanting to start using Blender but always seem to run out of time to sit down and really get into it, thanks for the tute though, I'll file it away so at some point when i do have the time I'll dig it out.

GD isn't really the place for promoting websites, tutorials etc.
Normally this would go in the specific forum of the application.
Moving it to news for his time since it's cross application, but please post in the appropriate forum next time.

Thanks for helping me with the confusion. Being a cross app thing made it hard to decide where to put it.

Glad you guys liked it! I figured it would be a good bridge for people

I wouldnt call it Maya features. There are similaritys, sure, but blender has its own (and imo more intuitive) way of doing things. Actually there're quite a few things that Maya is missing by default(like a build in tween machine for example). Imagine where blender would be if studios finally start to invest in the Blender Foundation rather than in overprized AD subscriptions year by year...plus its open source.

Hey man thanks for the video. I'm a long time Maya and Blender user and I didnt know about the unbake function. Very informative I enjoyed it very much because you have a calm voice which makes it easy to follow along. Not many of these comparison videos around so thanks.

Its nice to see some videos on this subject. I think the two apps complement each other very well. Blender's uv unwrapping tools make the round trip from maya to blender and back worth it all by itself.

And once you've spent some time customizing the interface, you can make blender feel very much like maya, so the transition between the 2 apps isn't so jarring.

fahr: You are right, both apps are pretty complementary as far as animation goes (that's all I'm concentrating in right now.) I do love it.
SoulVector: There's a few, I put a link in the comments to another guy, annex2nothing, who made a whole modelling series of comparison videos (I believe it's out already.)
sidvici: every year Ton makes this point at the SIGGRAPH BOF: If one developer was sponsored for the cost of a Maya license then it would accelerate development dramatically. It's happening, slowly
