That's looking pretty damn epic ...

I wasn't going to bother with yet another superman, but this trailer
is doing a fine job of convincing me otherwise.

I think this is probably the first time I've ever really been interested in a Superman film. I'm not a massive fan of the character to be honest but, this film, looks like its going to handle it the mythos well. I'm glad both Christopher Nolan and Zack Synder are involved in this.

I'm a big fan of Nolan's work as a director and felt he'd be able to give it the same look and feel that he established in the Dark Knight films. I think Synder's work on the Watchmen was great and I thought the film was really good too.

Bring on the Man of Steel I say.

As I said in the original thread, I hope the amount of time spent on the origin story is only slightly more than it is in the trailer, but I know it will probably take up a large amount of screen time, even though the only people left on earth who don't know Superman's origin story also don't have movie theaters, so it's kind of redundant. But, so it goes, everything is a reboot.

Still, the tone and scope seem absolutely great and I have hope this is the best combination of Nolan and Snyder possible. Looking forward to a properly epic battle with Zod this time around.

I do hope some brightness is allowed back in these movies at some point again though, and some de-greasing..after Iron Man 3, Trek, Superman, Oblivion, etc. I will be happy when a scifi tentpole movie comes out that doesn't look like it was shot in an active volcano.

Great thing about Terence Stamp as Zod was he didnt have to do much to give a sense of menace. He was very rigid and restrained in gesture. Effective performance and use of less is more filmmaking.

Anyway I am glad Goyer is writing it and not Nolan.

Looking very promising! Loved Superman since childhood. Let's hope this film delivers the goods!

It has potential.

Hmm not sure about that shot with the Pressure Wave (as he breaks the sound barrier-aka 761 mph +) with a cape that's waving about like a 'studio shoot' fan. Yes there is always some artistic license-but that shot technically has a speedometer on it.

I've found Oblivion to be refreshingly bright and colorful, actually...

You picked that shot to complain about the cape? The who flapping cape in space doesn't bother you?

The only 'space shot' I got out of the trailer he looks closer to the Earth than Felix was:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHtvDA0W34I

So nope-not bothered. Besides all the other Superman films are likely guilty. And then you could go on about 'firey' explosions in space too-then just about every SF or action space film is guilty of that one.

I just find the pressure wave less forgivable for some reason.
NO CAPES. Actually Edna has a point there-capes are kinda stupid. Its traditional to the hero-but when you think of it why would a modern day fledgling 'Superman' have the 'fashion sense' for a cape?! Heck that makes little sense when you think about it too...

Yeah but having his cape torn off just wouldn't look as cool would it? My main problem with it from a technical point of view is that the flapping of the cape would disrupt the airflow so much that I doubt a condensation cone would form. Again though, it looks pretty (same for the cape in space).

well the breathing in space bothers me, does coming to Earth change his physics? can he breath in space in his home world?
