G.I. Joe: Retaliation: The Reviews are Half the Battle

The filmmakers appear to have handed a dozen or so G.I. Joe dolls to a 9-year-old, watched him play for 110 minutes, and then shot a scene-for-scene remake.

What a blast G.I. Joe: Retaliation is! And then another blast, and another, in a series of concussive jolts that shred any conventional sense of story as thoroughly as anything since the last Michael Bay film.

When it comes to big and loud, this is the movie to beat for at least this week; what makes it entertaining is its unabashed wallow in these qualities ...

Sure, there's action, but these scenes seem more about shaking things up todistract the viewer from the overly convoluted, disjointed and nonsensical plot.

Well you don't go to see G.I. Joe and expect Shawshank Redemption. It is what it is.

Yeah. Look at your cast and some of their past characters. That should be a hint right there.

Channing Tatum = Magic Mike
Dwayne Johnson = The Scorpion King
Arnold Vosloo = The Mummy
Ray Park = Darth Maul
Ray Stevenson = The Punisher
Johnathan Pryce = Jumping Jack Flash
Bruce Willis = John McClane
Adrianne Palicki = Wonder Woman

I'm sensing that GI Joe 2 might not exactly be a remake of Macbeth. It's a click your brain in neutral and enjoy the explosions flick. After a winter of snoozers and chick flicks, that's exactly what I expect. Summer's gonna be full of these brainless popcorn movies. It always is. Better get ready. (What were the reviewers expecting anyway?)

Just watched it. Not too bad. Downright fun to watch at times. Flashbacks were handeled better.
Got a better "GI Joe" feeling this time around.
RZa- shut up, dude. Just... shut up.
The 3D wasn't the gimmick- that was Bruce Willis.
There were 2 main characters: Roadblock and Firefly. Firefly was awesome.
Lady Jaye was smoking hot hot hot.
My favorite part was in the high mountains.
Not a lot of Joes in this one- even before the mass kill-off.

Duke still gets killed off
. Makes me wonder what they went back and filmed.
I would very much like to know what this film was bevfore the almost year long delay. They claim it was for certain stars, and to convert this to 3D. Well, as a fan of 3D, I recommend watching this in... 2D. Don't get me wrong- there were a few beautiful scenes in 3D... but the action was too fast in many scenes to appreciate 3D in. That, and there were times the 3D was too subtle- almost to the point of 'why bother'. And then there were a few in-your-face gags that could have been real fun, but instead they kinda fell apart when too close to the camera.
Not too bad of a film; way better than the 1st... but can still be better yet. The Joes themselves border on "Character in name only"... with the exception of Roadblock. With the exception of rhyming, Johnson portrayed him quite well. The others (Mouse, Jaye, Flynt, and even Duke) had no real distinguishing characteristic. They were all carbon copies of "in the army" soldiers of each other totally lacking anything unique in specialized skill or unique attire to set them apart from each other.
Except Jynx and Snake Eyes.
Question: is
