Question Worse place for a someone trying to get into the industry?

Was wondering, would you say, the inland empire is the worse place for a starving cg artist to move to?

Los Angeles seems to be better but right now jobs are scarce, as in jobs to sustain oneself while trying to get a foot in the industry.
Moving to a small "city" like temecula seems like a step backwards even though there is probably a better job.

Would something like this work out? Temecula is more of a suburb, a community college of ranches. San Diego is an hour away, but Los Angeles, one can reside IN the city and rely more on public transit(yes we have that there), and live closer to better schools, and the industries.
