Adam and Dog (full version)

Roberto had posted the trailer for it a while ago, and it doesn't look like the full version was ever posted, so here it is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hq0-...eature=youtu.be

It's one of the best animated shorts I've seen in a long time. Such simplicity yet so much depth at the same time. Why can't there be more animated shorts like this, instead of the soulless action drivel that's so popular these days? Story will always be king--long live the king!

Just nothing to say! Beautyfull cinematography!
I`ve really impressed by simplicity of visuals and the complicity of feelings.
All of the dramatic points well placed so you feel peak of emotions right on the end of the film.

Been waiting so long to see this!

And it didn't disappoint. Agreed, definitely one of the best short films I have seen in a long time. You're absolutely right, I oughta just quote you. So simple yet so complex. And the visuals were breathtaking.

The urge to get a dog now is almost unbearable.

I'm glad the academy nominates shorts like these instead of mindless action.

The animation and art direction is just amazing. The director really understood the balance between visual simplicity and delivery of emotion. He just nailed it.

The message is not really clear, but I liked how the story is driven by the wonderful feeling of companionship.

On a technical note, he could have used some extra inbetweening in some shots, but overall the animation was very fluid. The editing and pacing was great. Sound was minimal but helped get the right emotions across.

Wonderful short.

Think about it: After being driven from the Garden of Eden.. Adam and Eve at least have their dog (ie: Companionship).

It means something of the Garden of Eden remains (whereas the literal Bible story was kind of like: "Boo hoo hoo! It's all gone forever!")

The emotional payoff, is that when all the other animals merely watched Adam and Eve being exiled from Eden, the dog was the only animal that left Eden and followed the humans into the unknown--out of loyalty and companionship. During the short, the dog and the human also interacted with other animals, but none of them had the kind of chemistry the dog and the human had. That is really the point of the story--the special bond between man and dog.

I saw this a couple weeks ago. I'm not a big animation person and I initially clicked on the video because of the beautiful background painting on the thumbnail image. While the background paintings did not disappoint, I got pulled into the story which lingered in my mind for the rest of the day. I thought the message was quite clear and thoughtful. I guess there's a reason why a dog is man's best friend.

This might be why the video was set to private: "OSCARS: Animated Shorts Nominees Urged To Take Free Versions Offline" (deadline.com) Kind of ridiculous really, because PES' Fresh Guacamole short has been available on YouTube since March 2012.

I've been waiting to see this for over a year and a half and it was worth every waiting moment. Such a beautiful character driven story

Snagged it as soon as I saw it on Youtube using Keepvid or you could also use Flashgot in Firefox. I just do it automatically now as there have been so many times things have appeared online and then disappear just as quickly.
