Free online Python course

An Introduction to Interactive Programming in Python.

Scroll down a bit.

I signed up for this a while ago, but i'm assuming they wont start the class untill a certain number of people join. The course is 8 weeks long with a workload of 7-9 hours a week. This is learning to program simple games like pong and asteroids.

I'm excited to try out Coursera, heard about it originally on a TED talk and it sounds fantastic. Free high quality training to improve a diverse collection of skills can't be a bad thing. I am enrolled in "Introductino to Digital Sound Design" : starting Jan 28th. Also "The Language of Hollywood: Storytelling, Sound and Color": starting Feb 4th.

I registered quite awhile ago for the first session that started in October. Unfortunately I became busy at the time and wasn't able to complete the course. I ended up starting Codecademy's Python course a week ago and I would recommend it to anyone interested in python.

I started taking coursera classes not long after they started and I like the format they offer. I have even managed to get a statement of accomplishment for a couple of classes even though I have forgotten most of what was covered.

Hey, thanks for posting this. I have heard of Coursera a long time ago and forgotten or not really known about it. I checked it out and enrolled and I'll definitely check out some other courses.
I love free education, it's how it should be IMO everyone working together to make a better future!
I'll be sure to introduce Coursera to some of my friends.

If you would like to learn Python at your own pace I highly recommend Zed A. Shaw's Learn Python The Hard Way:

You can either go through the free HTML pages or purchase the same material in both PDF + Video format for $29.
