Like, the trailer, or, the poster?

I know, that doesn't count, but it was still ridiculous. :P

I do know what you are getting at though. Thing is, for WotW it feels anti-climactic because there's little-to-no buildup to it, there are small clues, but I think anything more and it would have been obvious a mile away. But it's just as abruptly over/solved as it began, and there's no finale to the story.

I remember when the Prometheus trailer came out I wrote in here that they gave away too much showing the Prometheus crash into the alien ship and bring it down, but apparently that didn't seem to bother anyone back then. I guess it is just more common to show the big stuff in trailers now and it doesn't seem to hurt people's enjoyment of the film. I, personally, hate it though.

I hate it a LOT more when the poster depicts events that will NOT be occurring at all in the picture:

Rob Bowman! You still owe me the depiction of London being attacked by dragons and fighting against hundreds of helicopters!

You hear me?!?!? YOU. OWE. ME.

I dont think the movie versions are as interesting as the radio play of War of the Worlds--
it feels more menacing with just one person in the middle of the invasion wandering the countryside as opposed to a few characters with made up dramatic conflicts to fill up the time.
Then the main character becomes the narrator and can describe what is seen and how the aliens were defeated. It feels less jarring that way then having a few characters and they all get upstaged by germs.
