p_hairtk shader

hi, i used a shave&haircut maya 2012 with p_hair tk shader.....the hair rendered little bit grain,looks like a low quality render
mentalray setting
rapid hair,scanline and using a spotlight, mentalray override shadow with detail shadow map,shave globals render mode hair primitive....

Don't use scanline. Use either the rasterizer (might want to check out rasterize hair disposable) or raytracing (possibly with unified sampling).

Use Rasterizer.
Use hair primitives... not volume.

DON'T USE Saturation/Color/Gain variation.... all at 0.0. (Except for still images).
That's the biggest noise culprit I've found with the hair puppet shader.

It's mentioned in this tutorial. I did a test and discovered it to be true.

Possible reasons of fur flickering in animation:
1) mesh smooth node on maya fur geometry with smooth UV= ON, if so- turn it off.
2) flickering shadows- rize shadow map samples.
3) overal flichering - be sure in p_HairTK all variations (saturation, color, gain)= 0.
