New to VFX, going soon to Animation School, BUt

Hey there, i am not sure if this is place to ask, but let's go. Since i tried to learn 3D alone, okey, from tutorials, and such, i have tried to learn as much as i can, but the problem is i don't understand many things, and they are not covered in tutorials, from DT,Gnomon, etc. So, the best thing for me was to go for animation school in France, Called Esra,

I talked with the instructor there, and with the students, they told me that is good to know everything, they teach everything, from storyboard to, comp in Nuke, so they cover every aspect of VFX pipeline, they don't do programming which i hate it really.

Other than that, many students, from there, that didn't know shit of animation etc, working now in Big VFX studios.

So the problem i have is that, i am not sure, to go be generalist or be specialist. I am internet on everything, want to learn how to transfer 2d creature in 3d, to animate, texture, shade, light, etc. So Let's say don't have much projects for animation/modeling, but have for composting/lighting etc . So, i want to jump there.
