I think once we get console games running at 1080p 60fps with high AA then we can start saying the graphics don't matter

Until then, I'm eagerly awaiting the next generation of consoles

When that happens, 1080p will be considered retro already.

I love the open world formula created by GTA and all the gameplay that entails. I loved GTA IVs graphics on the PC. What I really didn't like was the depressing story. I know some of you are all about mature titles and whatever that means but at the end of the day I want to play the hero and have the triumphant victory. Beating the game only to find out

your cousins dead, his son will grow up without a father and its all your fault kinda deflated the whole victory.

I'll probably still play GTAV once it comes out on the PC but Saints Row is the open world game for me now. Silly and fun.

GTA is never famous for the top benchmark graphic.
they are open world games, it needs lots optimization in order to stay seamless in gameplay ( no loading).
if they are kind enough to release it in PC ENB mod team will do the mod for realistic graphic.
otherwise 1080 high AA with crisp textures, never been a main priority for any kind of . open world games. ( especially when the world is bigger than all previous GTA games combined).

It seems like they borrowed a lot of tricks from their work on Red Dead Redemption. Definitely still current gen, but using every bit of it well.

If there were a better console on the market right now, I'm sure Rockstar would be all over that.

- The lighting is more realistic and the color tones are much better.
- Textures are slightly more defined.
- Human models are better. The faces are very different from the way they used to be.
- Particle effects are indeed improved and there seems to be some interesting pre-calculated physics events like in Max Payne 3.

I don't think I prefer this setting over that of Liberty City but it sure does feel as if this game is going to be the new San Adreas.
