I really hope there is one with this next round of SW movies. I've come to believe that the counter voices are what made the originals so beloved. I saw Red Tails recently and he is so bad at telling stories now it's laughable. He has some good ideas but their implementation is godawful. I'm hoping SW can get an infusion of maturity and intelligence this time.

I'm actually fine with Lucas still involved in some respect. I mean he did invent the thing. As long as he's not directing or anywhere near the production that is. hehehe I think his ideas are still decent enough. It's just his execution is so far removed from the game. I'm sure his consulting gig will just be a very minor piece of the puzzle-Stan Lee level. My biggest request and hope is that the kiddie Star Wars is dead forever and the new approaches will have more adult feel to them.

Regardless, it seems like a A LOT more jobs for peeps from this site.

I didnt expect this-especially the "new SW movies every 3 years part."

If he is getting that much money i doubt he will have much creative input. More of a seal of approval kind of thing--but I am surprised given how protective he was of it.

So does this mean we might finally get super-duper ultra edition blu-rays that include the original, unaltered trilogy?

Had to confirm this one as not a hoax first, wowsers. It is mighty impressive that after all these years Lucas still owned the whole show lock-stock-and-barrel.

You guys remember this article a while back. George Lucas won't make any more Star Wars movies
Guess instead of letting it die he decided to pass the torch instead. I am hopefully optimistic.

"but he needs a strong counter voice."

yes.
the temptation to go with the stupid side of the force is strong with that one.

Hehe true. You listen to some of his off-the-cuff ideas and its like whaaaa... did your dog Chewie come up with that?

I'm excited that the legendary Episodes 7, 8 and 9 may actually come out and not suck.

Disney has a pretty "good" track record where sequels are concerned...

Well Disney is THE BEST company, bar none, on the planet managing IP.
It is a good fit for both companies.

Please Can I get a Boba Fett Movie now? Joe Johnston did Captain America, how about letting him make the movie about the character he created for Star Wars?

would be awesome.

I'm more curious what this means for Lucasarts and ILM's immediate futures. Does it mean only working on Disney content and/or Star Wars from here on out?

Now they just need to buy the rights to Timesplitters from crytek and make a game with all of their IP's fighting each other along with the Timesplitters characters.
