What is the future of Apple Shake?

Will Apple sell Shake to another company or just killing it ?

Did any company ask Apple to sell Shake for them ?

Where is Millennium which we have read that it will be instead of Shake ?

:(

Why Apple you are doing this to us ?

For how long we will be sad ?

Any one has any idea.

there is really someone talking about shake these days? how long is it gone now? 4 or 5 years?

shake has no future and had never one.

some of the big studios bought the source code of shake from apple and made there own version of it. mainly for 64bit usage.

but now, everybody has switched to nuke (or fusion).

Apple is turning into a toy... er umm consumer products company. And their software development is going to match the hardware. Professional hardware isn't in their internist anymore.

But yeah, Shake has been dead for a long time and probably won't be coming back.

I have to agree Nuke is already the main software for comping in the professional side.

Well if you have a mac, you can get shake for a very cheap price if you haven't got it already. I see it as getting your hands on a decent comping software without buying an expensive nuke license for your own work. I emphasize it's more for own personal work now, since it's been so long since any development has been made, while Nuke is years ahead of shake now.

In my opinion, I believe that Apple just left us with Color in place of Shake for a short while but didn't have the many of the capabilities of Shake. Color has since been discontinued too. This in my opinion suggests Apple has already pulled out of comping and colour grading arena.

Shake is dead, and Apple DID sell the source, but to customers who wanted to keep it alive for a bit longer.

Maybe, maybe not. Why would you care anyway? Nuke has been out for years and has for all intents and purposes replaced shake as its evolution.

They are known to be evil, and they like to hurt people. That is why.

For as long as you don't pat a puppy, or have some meds.

Yeah, you're about five years late, mate
Shake's been dead for a long while now, not sure why you're coming up with this topic now. Just move to Nuke, like the rest of the world did, you'll be ok.

I thought somebody resurrected a thread from 2009 or something when I saw the title.

is there anything, at this stage, that Nuke isn't better at than Shake? I remember Shake people complaining about the Nuke roto tools but those were updated a while ago. Anything else?

Depends how you define better. But in terms of practical everyday usage, while it's less advanced, Shake's command line is better than Nuke's for general purpose manipulation of image sequences. Luckily RVIO fills this gap in functionality for Nuke.
