In the end you can always alter it, but it will save people's time.
Concerning lighting giveaways: i donít think that such files would make an educational sense. People would use them as templates without needing to think. I agree that tutorials would be the better way to help, and therefore also the better way to feel good...

I know we all use loads of reference all the time. I guess that is what you are talking about with your anatomy piece. Sure there will be those that don't appreciate it and all of us should make our own studies. We are surrounded by great images and brilliant tools that are free (xnormal is one, Blender is another). With tools I have paid for I sometimes think about where they came from with gratitude, but with free stuff I always think about the one/s who made it possible.

Zokana, but scene files are already shared. It's not that you will use lighting of other artists. If the task is lighting, why not? It just takes quite a lot to prepare the scene, and when you finally light you may be quite tired. Of course texturing is as important as lighting to the picture, is that what you mean? That the lighting artist must learn to texture?

Kanga, my anatomy piece is not that good yet, I'm just thinking generally and used it as example. I can give it away, but no-one asked it seems, hehe. Well, of course, it's a bit of difference between the mindset in developed countries and others, as anything that hits the net here is kind of for granted. But enough of moaning from my side, if you do it you know what you were going to. So it's your free will with all its good and bads.

I think sharing can only be good, for everyone. It is pointless to reinvent the wheel every time. Where would society be today had people not shared their innovative ideas and creations?

Ah so I get it. Well you had some great responses already and a few have shown that hard commercial success can come from a different approach. Indeed if you make something exceptional and give it away you can also be setup for life.

What about those of us who are not geniuses. I think these sorts of forums are also a way of giving your time to help others as well as learn from those who give to you.
