Mudbox model to 3d Software

I just got Mudbox and was playing around with it. It looks like users are able to export the mudbox model as an obj or fbx and then import it in a 3d software such as 3ds Max or Maya. Do professionals do this in the industry? It just seems easier and faster than starting from scratch. And plus you have more control of the shape especially when manipulating a basic human body. After I shaped out the mudbox basic human body the way I wanted it, I exported it as obj and then imported it in 3ds Max. Then I just created his clothing and his props using 3ds max.

First, this should probably be in Mudbox section.

Secondly, yes, pros send files from Mudbox to Max or Maya all the time. However, in most cases, you'll have to retopologize in something like Topogun on the way; something sculpted in Mudbox almost certainly doesn't have animation-ready topology.
