Rumor or not, ADSK will need to clarify things soon.
Nobody would want to see its time getting wasted anymore.

Well the max project lead Ken Pimentel is going on a sabbatical.

I wonder if it has something to do with this?
EDIT: He is back from his vacation .

Except that when it turns to be true its gonna be already late since AD already took your money. Rumors or not, its not a good period for AD and they are messing up a lot, not really have faith in them and cant trust them at all now.

Lots of softwares got killed, removed, gave it for free from AD, combustion/toxic/motionbuilder/facerobot. Think at people who spent money on them and found out the day after it was discontinued or gave away for free. Thats AD style.

Before the conspiracy machines go crazy, he is back - https://twitter.com/AdskMaxedOut/st...895570530942976 - and has been active on this forum since his return - http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthr...55&page=1&pp=15.

There is a possibility this is true but as others have pointed out, Reddit is not exactly a shining source of reliable information.

Rumours definitely do influence purchases and decisions, I sacked off upgrading my phone contract and went pay as you go because of the "rumoured next month" release of the iphone 5, its been months now and I hate pay as you go but newest rumours tell me to just hang on another month so here I am, topping up my credit, waiting ... lol.

I'm going to take this as a giant rumor. I'm pretty certain there are at least a couple hundred thousand people (or more) that would be enraged enough to consider launching a class-action lawsuit on this one. Too many people use Max and have paid money into it with various expectations for what they are getting (often directly resulting form the specific details in AD marketing material). All the paid money into subscription that leads to the end of feature devlopment that we all pay for would be like paying for a maintenance plan on your car where, when you take it into the service shop, the brakes won't get fixed because "we have new cars we want you to buy instead that have a different kind of brake system." Or steering, etc.

Anyway, I'm going to take this as a rumor if only to keep my own sanity and blood pressure down. I have loved AD software for years, but my trust for the businessmen and lawyers in the company is stretched pretty thin lately.

Hopefully they can come out soon and ease our minds some.

We're talking about people switching software packages based on a rumour, a closer metaphor for this scenario would be a rumour appearing on Reddit that Apple are no longer going to support text messaging, so you throw your iPhone away mid contract and buy a Samsung.

(On a side note, why did you opt for pay-as-you-go instead of staying on on a rolling monthly contract? )

I suspect long before anything like this happened, we would hear from autodesk that they were ending subscription for said software. I can't see how they would accept subscription monies from people, and then end it before everyone's sub expired.

As this thread goes on, it gets twisted from animation tools are not being developed in Max, to they are killing off the whole program.

Indeed.

It is just people egging each other on to create drama.
Just apply logic (like some have done in this thread) and you will have your answer.

Don't get your hopes up...from what I heard they had some talk about such a project but it never started, and all the people tinkering with this idea were fired in the last massive layoff...
