Real-time graphics and AI in games not getting better? Gameplay is getting boring?

Take your time, man, and don't burn yourself out too much in the process.

I'm curious to see what your engine can do.

Hope to see some videos of it sometime in the future.

Who knows? Maybe your's is the realtime raytracer that will be the first used for 3D games?

Good luck!

Well with graphics card like the new consumer NVIDIA Titan (GK110 GPU) rumoured to be coming very soon (info here ), the future is bright for more and more realism with real-time graphics. This new card is probably 3-4 times faster than what I have at the moment, hhhhmmmm.

I'm a great advocate of not just the number of polys that can be pumped out but the quality of each pixel. It's the reason you can be watching District 9 or Pirates of the Caribbean on DVD and it still looks a million times better than current CGI games at 2.5k resolution.

Ray tracing gives that subtle realism in the lighting, telling my brain that I'm looking at something real. I never get that in the current crop of games. Game graphics are obviously remarkable in the quantity of assets and their designs, but not real. Well not unless you squint your eyes.

I think one of the big leaps necessary to cross over to more realism is the way assets are created. I think scanning in real objects and places will become easier and quicker as software and hardware in this area mature.

The next few years will be very exciting,

While I understand exactly what you mean, it also sounds like great 32-bit era hype. "Yes it's true that our competitor's machine shifts more polygons, but ours uses higher quality pixels." I can totally hear Tramiel, Kalinske or Hawkins throwing that one out to an interviewer.

I've never even cared how many pixels were there if the visual quality was high enough. RE:Revelations on 3DS looks just fine to me.

Is it the games getting boring or us getting older?
So long and thanks for all the fish

A little of both probably.

Here's the games I'm looking forward to this year that will hopefully feature more innovative gameplay:

Watch Dogs
I thought wow, when I saw the demo from last year's E3.

Remember Me
An Inception like storyline? Has platform game elements. This game has been in development for four years:

BioShock Infinite
Seems like years ago when I first saw a trailer. Now apparently it's out next month, apparently.

There's probably loads more cool non-typical games coming out. Anything else worth considering?
