Agreed, the time frame is a little too soon. Personally i'm interested in seeing greater developments in set scanning, DSLRs, 3d printers and use of augmented reality in greater application than just entertainment. I also want digital paper!

Someone previously mentioned Good in-office coffee machine: You're dreaming! The technology just isn't there yet. Without a barrista and a lot of cleaning overhead they'll just never compete with the cafe thats 15 minutes away who roasts their own.

Seriously. You crazy.

Big technology changes in the next 3 years?

o ... Prototypes of some big changes in cinematography like HDR recording, position/rotation/motion recording, depth/post-focus tools.

o ... Better image context recognition (oh please let it be the end of most manual roto jobs).

o ... Destruction, deformation, explosion and dynamics plug-ins will go nuts and they'll start working as artist tools more.

And it's not technology but I think China/India will begin to really get a grip on high end tools and we'll see more technically skilled production artists maturing in these markets ... which will mean better work from here but also an increase in comparative cost.
Critcal feedback example #62: "Well instead of the Stalinist purges and the divorce and the investigation ... it could be about losing a balloon."
