Is matte painting ever used in games? I have never seen matte painting before i think it rocks it out. Is it worth while learning? I haven't started going to school yet for game design. *save roll VS Ubernoob question*

To answer Gabriel J Kessler... Yes matte painting is used in games but more so in the cinematics or pre-compiled sequences. (To what I've experienced... I don't know for the in-engine part). It's always a good thing to know, even if it's just to make great background paintings or back drops.

You can always do camera maping, so the foreground can be a matte also.
you just need more cameras
