Modeling: the pod



The pod. Some tiny details, entry hatch, and simple cockpit interior to come.

Tigrenka: yes, the shaders will change completely, this is just some random testing. I will use some SSS component, but want it to be much more transparent, with some innards visible. And maybe, if i have time, some parasites (hmmm remora... well, most likely there will be parasites )

M@: it would be fun to see you participate

Modeling: Physalia modeling done



Ok, for now the physalia, and the pod are done (the modeling part at least). I think i overdid the details on the pod, especially on the back side (which you don't see here hehe ;) ). Oh well. Time to move on to the set.

It's not in fact the pod is a very messy model. But as it does not deform, it doesn't really matter. And it won't be big on the final image.

Last one does not use sss shader. Just a bunch of gradients and fresnels in luminosity channel. And a lightdome, and some tweaking in PS . Previous ones did use sss shaders - it looks pretty, but takes soo long to render :(.

There was a question about software: Wings 3d for base modelling and unwrapping, Zbrush for organic stuff and probably for texturing, c4d 8.5 to render. Tentacles are only thing done in other software - using Hair in 3dsmax, because hair department in c4d wasn't good enough .
