yea I figured it would be fresnel with a bit of bump,(was wondering how I'd do something similar in 3dsMax),it really does suit the toon style of your models.
good luck with bodypaint..I was a die hard Deeppaint3d user for a while, now using Zbrush for all 3dpainting..never used Bodypaint but heard good things about it.

Cheers
Stefan

Alright mate?

I like your sketches. They match the models so well. Nice and vibrant.

hello hello
love your toony style...

can't wait to see your scenery... thought anything about that yet? I'd love to see them in something like a closeup environment of life on the ground

Thanks a lot guys/gals.

@ iZ0 ... yea, the environment is definately going to be some sort of macro/ground combination. A lot of depth blur (or at least some). The story isn't gelling like I had hoped but it will come together sooner or later. The problem I'm having with the theme is that it's next to impossible to be original with all of the bug movies there are out there. Inevitably, someone will say that it looks a lot like Bugs Life, Antz or something. I'm just trying to nail down an original idea before I present it.

Hey those look just like critters from Bugs life!

Hahah, just kidding. But seriously, don't let the cult of originality bite you on the ass. Modernism is dead, don't let its rotting corpse cloud your judgement, time to move along, nothing to see here kiddies. No matter what you do someone can come along and say 'this looks like that other'... but so what?

Heres an idea that might help, instead of thinking in terms of bugs, think of a story that relates to people, for instance, soldiers on a mission or knights on a quest for the grail and then just throw the bugs into that scenario.
