The character looks great! Although I don't like her eyes, look kind of flat.

Where have you been?

  05 May 2006
Nice one Tommy, but I must agree on the eyes... Also the nose seems a bit too pointy

  05 May 2006
@Womball. Yeah...the eyes should have been real - not just textures, maybe I'll fix that
If the facial gets used in the final image.

About where I've been: Isn't it just typical? I joined a course and it where to last 4 months
and stole basically all my time, and of course - ends 2th June, oh well... I'll do my best
to finish this compo still.

@Jarnhus, thx. Yeah, same message as above

Nice. A classic Tommy character

The face needs some attention, but then again, if she faces the other way why bother adding detail.

Modeling: LandScape layoutmodel

This is the base for the landscape.
Much vegetation will be added as separate layers but influence lighting when I come that far.

Not much to say about the landscape yet. Looks cartoonish which is a good thing. But shouldn't those tree roots be in the ground? Right now the trees look like the can take a walk.

Modeling: Shaping vegetation

Added Yahi (the kid) to the scene, and
remodelled the trees + added some nature details. There will be a lot more, but this surely is a quest for keeping details renderable at manageable speeds + making it "look" detailed and keep the mood of the scene. Tricky.

A LOT more will be added.

Looking good, although I'm not sure if that's a giant leaf on the hill, or a falling leaf in the foreground.

  05 May 2006
@Womball - Ah, it's the "air-boat". It's not finished yet (or any lighting for that matter)
it will be "focused on" in the modeling final stages. Right now I'm focussing on
composing and modeling in symbiance.

I saw your thread too, coming along nicely there

@Living_for_cg

Thanks. I might revise the scene yet. I have been thinking of either adding
another character (a toy companion or a pet) and make them discuss and "point"
towards "the Journey" ahead. The character is fully rigged and skinned for this
very purpose - so anything could change.

Looking forward to updates! I love your other character designs. And your rigs seem pretty good too. Haven't explored that bear that much though. :-(

I really like your cartoony style - a lot! I also liked the trees with the roots exposed above the ground too - they looked kind of fun and scary too, but maybe that was just my way of seeing things. The way you've modeled the pathway is very elegant. This is wonderful stuff. I like the idea of another character too because the way the girl interacts with it could change her pose in such a way that we see some of her face.
