Shading (Textured and lit): The Wiz, textures.

An early look at how the Wiz might be textured. I am still coming to grips with hair, so he might get a tighter goatee. Plus bumps and speculars, etc to be added.

what a sneaky looking wiz... but the star is just me looves shiny and glittring stuff...
just me... and my GP...

Maybe some dirt on his hat could make him look a bit more "experienced", but I see you haven't started the roughen phase yet.
The texturing and the beard is fab - it looks like you're taking your toys to a whole new level this time around. Brilliant so far.

Thats one fine wizard you've conjoured up there Soapy, if these were toys in production, i'd buy them.
Old 03 March 2006   #69
That is one seriously twisted wizard. But I like it and that wizards hat looks crack a lackin. (as my daughter would say)
Old 03 March 2006   #70
Looks very velvety.... (is that a word?)
Old 03 March 2006   #71
Thanks everyone!

I agree Gunilla, I will do something to the hat. Some dirt for sure and I was thinking of seeing if I could add in some swirly colors also. I will have to test.

Yes Handlebar I wouldn't mind getting some too, hahah. Like Gunilla says I have sort of gone to a new level but I have mixed feelings about it. They are beyond what you can get as toys and a bit unreal that way, so I am thinking of them as custom built toys I guess. Plus my intended scale is about 2 inches tall so a lot of finish is packed into a little space.

3dE, you dont want to see him with his hat off, he is totally hideous.

Hey velvety works for me Mike. It just seemed appropriate. The velvet is a cheen shader.

Nobody mentioned the lack of arms on him... do you think they should show? Dangling down, maybe holding something? Or maybe the hat should be longer?
Old 03 March 2006   #72
that's a crackup!! love the velvet.I don't think he needs arms soap, but like you say, the hat could be longer.
Old 03 March 2006   #73
Na, he looks good without arms. Kind of a Q-bert design.
Old 03 March 2006   #74
I agree - he looks good without arms. I can also picture him with his hands folded behind his back - a bit selfrighteous if you get the idea. Or maybe a loop on the top of the hat, as for hanging somewhere.
Love it!
