the piper design looks very interesting, I like it a lot.... are you going to add those rats' skulls somewhere around the pic? it could a good idea like something premonitory about what's going to happen to the rats...
Old 03 March 2006   #32
The skulls are primarily going to be hanging off of the piper's belt. However, because of the piper's distance from the camera, I don't think you will be able to see them.

Modeling: Base Rat Mesh

This is the base mesh for the rats. The next step for this model is to UVMap it so every rat will have the same UVMap setup (I think I can get away with this with the exception of a few select rats). After I UVMap the rat I am going to rig it so I can pose him later. Before I do this. I think I'll do some more modeling.

Cool poly so far se7enthcin, maybe making the nose longer would make it more agressive, like in your sketch, can't wait for details though

Yep, cool modeling so far, maybe put up the nose a little bit, makes them more agressive.
Nose goes up when they display their teeth, guess this happens with almost all animals

Looks good..

Its difficult to contribute anything helpful other than praise when an idea is looking so good - so praise it is! I'm really looking forward to following your thread and learning from it!
Fantastic work!

LOve the character sketches. Be interestng to see how you will pull off the expressions of so many rats. Will need a lot of that IMO to truly get a dramatic picture. Happy journey, but not for the rats...

Nice rats you´ve got there!
But I think the legs look a bit... froggy

Hello se7enthcin, nices sketch and model. I do agree with kostra(skeleton) and Alberto_Ro about the leg. Looking from the side view the curve looks a bit out of place. Visually it the curve joint on the ankle looks weak to hold the weight of the upper body. Nevertheless this is going well. Keep it up.

cipher and MichaelMotion

Thank you. This is merely a base mesh. What I'm going to do is use this main rat to create every rat int he scene. I wanted to make him as generic as possible (at least at the begining stages). I do need to add teeth however. So Michael, you're right about that part for sure. Thank you two.

Believe me, I don't feel as far along as I should be. So if it makes you feel better, your progress and my head are neck and neck. Thank you for stopping by!

Alberto_Ro and ecura

I saw that when I was going to bet last night I think I was too tired. I will go back to it and fix it before I start to use this mesh for the rest of the rats. Thank you!

Thank you very much I hope you come back!

I'm interested in seeing how I do that myself Same to you!

Pied Piper

Really interesting, I thought of doing a Pied Piper based image for the Spectacular competition, never even got around to starting though...

I will watch this with great interest, the rats look great, I can picture in my mind hundreds of them swarming after the Piper!

Don't give up....
