Quite late to be entering the challenge but I thought "better late than never".

A week ago I started a new image based on an interesting photo I saw in the newspaper of a lobby seen from above. I thought that I could use this image as my entry in the Challenge.

Everbody remembers (at least I hope) the first time we travelled alone. While we are waiting for our transport, be it a bus, plane, train or ship we think about all the things that could go wrong. You feel helpless against the world. It's the time where you have to face your fears and go on.

That is what I will try to portray with my image: the first step into a journey towards independence as human beings in our world

Coloring WIP: coloring

One of the steps of the coloring phase. When I did this I didn't intend this to be for the Challenge.

Coloring WIP: final "previous" stage

OK...this is where I left the image in the previous state. So, up until here I didn't really know what I was aiming for, and then I decided to enter the Challenge and this is where I will start. Lots of detailing to do...I want to add a billboard to the lower right corner where a boy in the middle is looking at.
The color scheme will basically be this one...aiming for some nostalgic colors. Perhaps I will add a few drops of color here and there to spice up the image.

Here I go...

Coloring WIP: Delineating the new path

Ok...this is my real beginning. I am starting to delineate my previously stated intentions. I want to keep the lighting theatrical and not really realistic to heighten the drama of the scene. Contrast and color are supposed to be centered on the boy to draw attention. Well, anyway...this is it for now.

really nice concept this. The lighting is very well done and i like the way the boy is the only colorful element. It has a dreamlike quality and an effective composition. good luck with this one.
