Beannachtaí na Cásca!! Hope you're having a good day- the priest at Mass this morning grew an orthodox-style beard especially for Easter, that was funny.

Updates, please!

Hi there, Ed. Interesting take on the concept! How about having new souls peering through the door from downstairs, looking up to see what lies along the flight of stairs. That way, we can feel that their journey is beginning at that very door. On the other hand, you could have new souls from upstairs being pushed out of a door, while they look with frightened faces at the hellish objects placed all the way down the endless spiralling stairs ! Just my ideas. All the best with it and keep pushing!

Happy Easter by the way!

Coloring WIP: Working on the steps

This is just the steps colouring, still pretty rough. I'm working in a space of 1000 pix square just so I can get the right feel for the steps downwards. Does it convey a feeling of setps way down below?

Thanks and Instructions

How to upload updates-
It's taken me 20 minutes to find the right buttons to press to get to the up load so I'm writing them here so I'll know next time....
Go to Events (top meunu), Submit Entry, log in, Upload image appears below.

I haven't worked up the Soul yet. Do you think the latest update gives the stairs feeling?

Hi Theresa, and a Happy Easter to you too. What would your priest think of this or even your take on Souls Journey?

Happy Easter to u 2. I'll be going with your second suggestion of the Soul looking down at the challanges below. It won't be too hellish, I don't have your scary imagination to view from! :-) I hope to make the events along the spetps more pleasant as the Soul gets closer to the top or his real home. I suppose it is a bit like the prodigal son.

Coloring WIP: Houses added

I've just added some houses along the path to give it scale. Can you find the Soldier? Does this improve the depth of the picture?

I think it's looking better, the detail on the houses is good, but I can't see anyone in it. Maybe you should think of making the overall image larger and everything in it bigger, so you can actually see what's going on?

Keep on plugging away and thanks for your help in my challenge.

yes its getting better i think but still hard to get what youre cooking and i agree with theresa, making things bigger is a good idea. at this moment i cant find much things to say but you can try different perspectives, different colors but still i think its early to criticise yet (for me) i dont know whats in your mind.
my hunger for knowledge never ends!

Thanks for your comments

Theresa, you are probably right about making everything bigger. I'm jsut doing these as roughs for now so I know where I'm going. I think it's time to start on the full size pic.

individium, have a look at my earlier colour rough hopefully it gives more of the story.

sirBS, thanks for your comment. I like your entry, the cheeky cockroaches.

Looking very surreal and abstract yet realistic! Though it is supposed to be like stairways going down, but there's no sense of being able to walk down the spiral. Perhaps you should put in some obvious hints like stairway rails or steps for example. Without those, the journey theme will not be so clear, I think. Keep going, Ed!

Thanks guys

Jerome- Thanks for that hint. My thinking is that the place of origin, where the journey begins, is in the clouds and the further down you go the 'harder' the sourroundings get. I'll probably add the rails like you suggest.

Riddick- your concept is pretty original too but then it is your home

Very original aproach, i like a lot!

Hi Ed! Very original Idea! Your aproach of Journey Begins being a spiritual journey is a thing that never passed in my mind before see your image! I like a lot! I dont know if it is proposital, as it is a spiritual approach, but your image remembers me a Mandala! The position of spirits and other elements as its eliptical shape take me that idea. Its is proposital? Keep pushing it, its a very nice concept and will be great see it done!

I put a answer for your post in my Journey posts..
Good luck for you!
