Awesome! I've been working on programming homework all night so seeing a new lighting challenge is a breath of fresh air, can't wait to start.

Good one. Here's my Take. I am using Vray for this challenge as against Mental Ray, so it should be a learning experience. Not yet fixed on the composition or elements. but it's a start.C&Cs welcome.High Res.

tuffmutt1 - I like your image but am a little weirded out by the orange light pouring through one window and blue light pouring through the other. I would think it would be either, or one would be a lot less saturated? I don't think the composition works because I'm not sure what the subject is. If you placed an artist at the chair in the center of the frame I think it would work well. That's my two cents, very nice work still.

Nice challenge, but I would like to know why those hanging lamps are hoovering in mid-air?

I noticed how obvious it was after the fact. Luckily it's not too difficult of a fix.

First attempt after much fiddling around with the mesh. Just a plain white shader applied at the moment to see if the composition and lighting works. I'm going for a sort of cluttered art studio look with several different projects going on at once.

MentalRay daylight system with the haze turned up a bit (although I think I might turn it back down again, doesn't look quite right to me at the moment)

Here's my initial setup:

Software: 3ds Max & iray

To do:
Add more textures/materials throughout.
Possibly rearrange item placement
I'm thinking of adding beams or something to the ceiling area
Fix floating objects
Increase reflectivity of floor material
Some of the geometry was hidden here as I split things up into layers and forgot to enable the chair layer for this first render.
---------------------------------------------
Edit to add comments on others WIP's:
tuffmutt1 - Looks good so far & looking forward to see your next update.
NAYAK33 - Really like the colors you used. Very tranquil color scheme (IMHO).
FrankThomas - I like where you going with the cluttered studio theme. Seems a bit organized at the moment though with everything in it's own area. That being said I do realize it's an early test so arrangement of items may change as you continue to refine the look you're after. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
