Question FumeFx wispy fog - 1200 frames

Hi everyone,

I am trying to do 1200 frames of wispy smoke in FumeFx with a camera orbiting around the center of the world. Beside the huge calculation time, my main problem is the smoke blend across the voxel even with a dissipation of 0. Frame 100 look good but not so much couples of hundred frames later. I was curious to know how you guys would proceed.

Here is the 2 solutions I am thinking:

1) FumeFx: Simulate 100 frames with the option After End Frame set to "End Frame". Fake movement with keyframe translation in my FumeFx Box and with some FFD. Would that even work?

2) Switch to Afterburn and have full control over the movement. Plus no calculation time. I could try this tutorial to have a good base:

What do you guys think?

This is what Post Processing is good at along with setting an initial frame. You could sim a fairly slow sim to begin with that gets you in the ballpark of where you want to be as far as movement and looks go. Then set a good frame as the initial frame and run it out to cover a good amount of time.

Then do a re-time using Fume's Post Processing and minimize the grid to cut down on the cache size(2 birds with 1 stone). I've found that going under .3(or 30% of your original speed) will start to cause artifacts to appear. If you do try this, make sure you export your velocity channel or it will not work.
