Creating a 9/11 effect?

Hello all,

How do I start off to create the 9/11 kind of an effect? I am just having some startup issues.

I understand the project requires knowledge in dynamics for blasting of the airplane and the building, FumeFX for the explosion on collision, Particle flow to be used in combination with FumeFX and the compositing of the explosion created in FumeFX to an exisiting video of a city in After Effects. Is that alright?

Planning to grab video of a city from some Hollywood movies.
Models to be created includes the airplane & the building on which the collision happens.

Is this the right workflow to start off with this project?

I guess somebody here would help me start off in the right direction.

Thanks .
